Goldendoodle Brush
If you’re a first time Goldendoodle parent, and a first time long-haired dog owner, choosing the best brush can feel like stepping into unknown lands. But no need to worry, I’m here to help you out!
I wanted to keep this blog post short and simple…because it doesn’t have to be hard to learn what brush works best for your doodle.
Type of Brush
Every Goldendoodle needs a slicker brush. No matter what type of coat. A slicker brush will make your life much easier.
I just want to say one more time: A slicker brush is the only kind of brush you’ll need.
Now,…………. not all slicker brushes are high quality. And not all slicker brushes work well. There are only 3 slicker brushes I actually recommend for your doodle.
Here are my favorites starting with the brush I use personally, every day at work.
1. Chris Christensen – Big G Slicker Brush – Large
If you’re looking for a brush that will last for FOREVER, brush all of the way through the coat, down to the skin–this is the brush for you! I recommend this brush to EVERY.SINGLE.ONE. of my doodle clients. It doesn’t matter if it’s a Goldendoodle, Aussie Doodle, Labradoodle, Sheepadoodle, Borderdoodle–you get my drift. Many professional groomers agree that once you use it, you’ll never use another brush.
2. Miracle Coat Brush
This is a very affordable, basic slicker brush. It will definitely need a follow-up comb thorough after a good brush out. But this is a great starter brush for any Goldendoodle parent.
Activate/Les Pooch
My last recommendation for Goldendoodles is the ActiVet Tuff Zapper Duo Demat Brush. It’s a mouthful to say, but it’s a GREAT brush. However, the downside is it’s VERY EXPENSIVE. This brush is for a Goldendoodle parent that is looking to invest in their Goldendoodle’s grooming equipment to permanently lower their grooming costs by keeping their coat mat free.
It’s very known in the grooming community as a great brush. But I understand as a pet parent it seems like a bit of an investment. Nevertheless, this a great brush because it demats and finishes. Leaving you with a mat-free, silky smooth coat.
In Conclusion
As a groomer of 10 years, I can assure you that brushing your Goldendoodle is extremely important. It not only keeps your dog mat-free, but it also keeps their skin clean, and coat smelling fresh (a brushed coat allows for proper airflow).
Hopefully, you’ve found this list of brushes useful and it helps your Goldendoodle stay tangle-free!
